Viscosity of cellulose ether HPMC for self-leveling mortar
Viscosity of cellulose ether HPMC for self-leveling mortar
Self-leveling mortar generally comes in two types: gypsum-based and cement-based. In terms of application, gypsum-based mortar is rarely used due to its poor water resistance and wear resistance. Cement-based has a wider range of uses than gypsum-based, and has good cohesion to prevent bleeding and segregation.

For self-leveling mortar, choose cellulose ether HPMC with a viscosity of 400. Its appearance is white, odorless and tasteless powder. The solvent properties in cold water and hot water are different. Products with high methoxyl content are insoluble in hot water above 85℃, and medium methoxyl Products with low methoxyl content are insoluble in hot water above 65℃, and products with low methoxyl content are insoluble in hot water above 60℃. Ordinary HPMC is insoluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, ether, and chloroform, but is soluble in 10% to 80% ethanol aqueous solution or a mixture of methanol and methylene chloride. HPMC has a certain degree of hygroscopicity. At 25℃/80%RH, the equilibrium moisture absorption is 13%. It is very stable in dry environments and environments with a pH of 3.0~11.0.

Self-leveling floor cement mortar uses low viscosity hydroxypropyl methylcellulose HPMC. Self-leveling is a very advanced ground construction technology. Since the entire floor is naturally leveled with little interference from construction workers, compared with the previous manual smoothing process, the flatness and construction speed are greatly improved. The self-leveling dry mixing time takes advantage of the excellent water retention of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose. Since self-leveling requires the evenly stirred mortar to automatically level on the ground, the water content is relatively large. Add HPMC and the ground will be controlled after pouring. The water retention of the surface is not obvious, so that the surface after drying has high strength, low shrinkage, and greatly reduces cracks. The addition of HPMC also provides viscosity, which can be used as an anti-sedimentation additive, enhance fluidity and pumpability, and improve the efficiency of paving the floor.
