Difference between HPMC and HEC
China Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (manufacturer) is a semi-synthetic, inactive, viscoelastic polymer. HPMC can be used as a binder in mortar, gypsum, putty powder to improve spreadability and prolong workability, HPMC's water retaining property prevents the paste from cracking too quickly after application and enhances the strength after curing. It's used as thickener, dispersant and stabilizer in coating and ink industry and has good compatibility in water or organic solvent. It's also widely used as binder in ceramic products.
Hydroxyethyl cellulose is a non-ionic surfactant; HEC has good properties of thickening, suspension, dispersion, emulsification, adhesion, film formation, moisture protection and protective colloid, etc. It has been widely used in oil drilling industry, coatings, mortar, medicine and food, textiles, papermaking industry.
