HPMC plays three roles in putty powder: thickening, water retention and construction.
1. Thickening: HPMC thickens, suspends, and keeps the solution uniform up and down, and resists sagging.
2. Water retention: It makes the putty powder dry more slowly and assists the reaction of calcium grey under the action of water.
3. Construction: HPMC has a lubricating effect, which allows the putty powder to have a good construction, and does not participate in any chemical reaction, but only plays an auxiliary role.
